Regular Season Round 25: Brasilia - Caxias do Sul 78-79

Seventeenth-ranked Brasilia (4-17) made lots of trouble for eighth ranked Caxias do Sul (9-14). The visitors from Caxias do Sul managed to secure only one-point victory 79-78. However their fans expected much easier game. Strangely Brasilia outrebounded Caxias do Sul 39-26 including 26 on the defensive glass. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international guard Humberto Silva (196-95) who helped to win the game recording 29 points and 9 rebounds. Eddy Carvalho (197-87) contributed with 11 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners. Four Caxias do Sul players scored in double figures. Germerson Barbosa (205-93) answered with 19 points and 8 rebounds and American-Argentinian guard Erik Thomas (195-95, college: New Orleans) added 18 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Brasilia. Brasilia's coach Regis Marrelli rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Despite that victory Caxias do Sul went down to ninth position due to points difference. Brasilia lost fourth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom place with 17 games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
