Regular Season Round 25: Gimnasia - Ferro 90-70

Everything went according to plan when third ranked Gimnasia (17-6) outplayed 5th ranked Ferro (14-10) in Comodoro Rivadavia 90-70 on Friday. Gimnasia dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Ferro's 26. Gimnasia forced 20 Ferro turnovers and outrebounded them 36-23 including 22 on the defensive glass. The former international Sebastian Vega (200-88) nailed 19 points and 6 rebounds for the winning side and Cuban forward Joaquin Mensia (198-97, agency: Pro Sports) accounted for 13 points and 11 rebounds. Five Gimnasia players scored in double figures. Point guard Juan Laterza (180-97) came up with 11 points and Uruguayan center Theo Metzger (200-99) added 9 points respectively for Ferro in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. The victory was the seventh consecutive win for Gimnasia. They keep a position of league leader. Loser Ferro keeps the fifth place with ten games lost. They share the position with Instituto. Gimnasia will meet Olimpico (#13) in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Ferro will play against H.Americano (#20) in Rio Gallegos and hope to secure a win.
