Very expected game when 15th ranked Fortaleza (7-12) lost at home to eighth ranked Pinheiros (10-12) 81-65 on Friday. Pinheiros outrebounded Fortaleza 45-21 including a 30-18 advantage in offensive rebounds. Naturalized Portuguese forward Rafael Munford (195-98, college: Augusta) notched a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds to lead the effort and the former international Jefferson Andrade (207-83) supported him with 10 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists. Five Pinheiros players scored in double figures. Pinheiros' coach David Pelosini used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Even 23 points and 4 steals by Dominican guard Nehemias Morillo (197-92, college: S.Florida) did not help to save the game for Fortaleza. Maozinha Pereira (200-0) added 7 points and 5 rebounds for the hosts. Pinheiros moved-up to seventh place. Fortaleza lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the twelfth position with 12 games lost. Pinheiros' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Sao Paulo Sao Paulo.
