Very predictable result when second ranked Puerto Varas (7-3) defeated on the road 10th ranked Espanol de Talca (2-7) 115-102 on Saturday. Puerto Varas made 21-of-23 free shots (91.3 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 35 assists. The best player for the winners was Dominican guard Bernardo Polanco (189-94) who scored 46 points (!!!). The former international forward Aitor Pickett (203-99) chipped in 20 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward T.J. Robinson (203-89, college: LBSU) who recorded a double-double by scoring 27 points, 11 rebounds and 7 assists and forward Diego Zerene (-0) added 20 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Puerto Varas have a solid series of four victories in a row. They keep a position of league leader. Espanol de Talca lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the eleventh place with seven games lost. Puerto Varas will meet Universidad de Concepcion (#4) on the road in the next round. Espanol de Talca will play against Las Animas (#5) and hope to secure a win.
