Regular Season Round 26: Regatas - Union SF 112-110
Date: February 15, 2022
Not a big story in a game in Corrientes where 16th ranked Union SF (8-17) was edged by eighth ranked Regatas (14-9) 112-110 on Tuesday. However just two-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Regatas made 29-of-33 free shots (87.9 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was the former international forward Facundo Pinero (202-1988) who had a double-double by scoring 27 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists. The former international point guard Nicolas Aguirre (189-1988) chipped in 24 points and 8 assists. Guard Christian Schoppler (185-1986) produced 27 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) and the former international guard Juan Pablo Cantero (188-1982) added 24 points and 11 assists respectively for the guests. Five Regatas and four Union SF players scored in double figures. Union SF's coach Juan Francisco Ponce tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Regatas maintains eighth position with 14-9 record. Newly promoted Union SF keeps the sixteenth place with 17 games lost. Regatas will meet bottom-ranked H.Americano (#20) in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Union SF will play against La Union (#19) in Formosa and hope to secure a win.
