Argentina
Regular Season Round 27: Ferro - Argentino 87-82
Date: February 16, 2022
There was no surprise in Buenos Aires where 19th ranked Argentino (7-15) was defeated by sixth ranked Ferro (16-10) 87-82 on Wednesday. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. It was a great evening for point guard Rodrigo Gallegos (186-1991) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 19 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Swingman Valentin Bettiga (189-1999) helped adding 8 points and 5 rebounds. The best for the losing side was American guard Thomas Cooper (196-1992, college: Calgary) with 27 points and the other American import center Chris Daniels (208-1984, college: TAMUCC) produced a double-double by scoring 16 points and 13 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Ferro moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Instituto. Argentino lost third consecutive game. They keep the nineteenth position with 15 games lost. Ferro will meet at home higher ranked San Martin (#4) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Argentino will play against the league's second-placed Penarol (#2) in Mar del Plata and hope to secure a win.
