There was an upset in La Rioja where higher ranked Riachuelo LR (11-14) was defeated by eighteenth ranked Comunicaciones (8-16) 95-86 on Thursday. Comunicaciones made 16-of-20 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. It was a great evening for American Jordan Adams (196-1994, college: UCLA) who led his team to a victory scoring 25 points and 5 rebounds. His fellow American import swingman Trahson Burrell (201-1992, college: Memphis) helped adding 13 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. The best for the losing side was American guard Gary Ricks (185-1991, college: Drake) with 31 points, 5 assists and 4 steals and the former international center Martin Leiva (211-1980) scored 12 points and 8 rebounds. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Comunicaciones moved-up to fifteenth place, which they share with Atenas. Riachuelo LR lost fifth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the thirteenth position with 14 games lost. Comunicaciones will meet higher ranked Gimnasia (#3) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Riachuelo LR will play against Obras (#9) in Buenos Aires and hope to secure a win.
