Regular Season Round 28: Pato Basquete - Cerrado 78-94

We should mention about the upset which took place in Pato Branco, where higher ranked Pato (9-15) lost at home to fifteenth ranked Cerrado (8-15) 78-94 on Saturday. Cerrado made 28-of-30 free shots (93.3 percent) during the game. Cerrado outrebounded Pato 42-21 including a 31-14 advantage in defensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Isaac Thornton (193-1991, college: Fairmont St.) who helped to win the game recording 25 points (made all of his thirteen free throws !!!) and the other American import point guard Kenny Dawkins (172-1987, college: Lamar) who added 20 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. Four Cerrado players scored in double figures. At the losing side Argentinian Mateo Bolivar (187-1992) responded with 23 points and 5 rebounds and point guard Augusto Leao (184-1998) scored 17 points. Pato's coach rotated ten players seeing no chance for a win. Cerrado moved-up to thirteenth place. Loser Pato keeps the eleventh position with 15 games lost. Cerrado will meet higher ranked Flamengo (#3) in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Pato will play against UNIFACISA (#6) in Paraiba and hope to secure a win.
