An interesting game for Vivo/Franca (23-1) which hosted in Sao Paulo second-ranked Minas (20-4). First ranked Vivo/Franca managed to get a 9-point victory 98-89. It ended at the same time the nine-game winning streak of Minas. Vivo/Franca made 19-of-24 free shots (79.2 percent) during the game. 24 personal fouls committed by Minas helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American guard David Jackson (190-1982, college: Penn St.) orchestrated the victory by scoring 23 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!). The former international point guard Georginho de Paula (197-1996) contributed with 18 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. American guard Shaquille Johnson (191-1990, college: Marshall) answered with 19 points and the former international Gui Santos (202-2002) added 15 points in the effort for Minas. Four Vivo/Franca and five Minas players scored in double figures. Minas' coach Leonardo Costa rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Vivo/Franca have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain first place with 23-1 record. Minas at the other side keeps the second position with four games lost. Vivo/Franca are looking forward to face Flamengo (#3) in Rio de Janeiro in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Minas will play at home against Cerrado and is hoping to prove to their supporters that the loss was just an accident.
