Nineteenth-ranked Argentino (7-17) was very close to win a game against second ranked Penarol (20-7) in Mar del Plata. Penarol managed to secure only two-point victory 73-71. However their fans expected much easier game. Worth to mention a great performance of point guard Joaquin Valinotti (185-1998) who helped to win the game recording 24 points and American forward Al Thornton (203-1983, college: FSU, agency: BIG) who added 6 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side American center Chris Daniels (208-1984, college: TAMUCC) responded with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 18 rebounds and Pablo Alderete (198-1993) scored 14 points and 8 rebounds. Four Argentino players scored in double figures. Penarol have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 20-7 record having just two point less than leader Quimsa. Argentino lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the nineteenth place with 17 games lost. Penarol will play against Obera (#9) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Argentino will play against Platense (#14) in Florida and hopes to get back on the winning track.
