Regular Season Round 13: Valdivia - Puente Alto 74-55

The game between second ranked Puente Alto (8-3) and ninth ranked Deportivo Valdivia (4-4) was the most important one in the last round on Saturday night. Puente Alto was crushed by Deportivo Valdivia in Valdivia 74-55. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Puente Alto. Deportivo Valdivia forced 20 Puente Alto turnovers. American forward Cameron Naylor (202-1994, college: Texas St.) stepped up and scored 18 points and 7 rebounds for the winners and Panamanian-Mexican Gabriel Giron (192-1988) chipped in 17 points and 4 assists. Naylor is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Deportivo Valdivia's coach Juan Manuel Cordoba used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side Argentinian forward Martin Chervo (200-1992) responded with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 14 rebounds and the former international guard Erik Carrasco (181-1983) scored 10 points and 7 rebounds. Deportivo Valdivia have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to seventh place. Puente Alto at the other side keeps the second position with three games lost. They share it with Los Leones. Deportivo Valdivia are again looking forward to face higher ranked Puente Alto (#3) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Puente Alto will have a break next round.
