There was no surprise when 4th ranked Mesquita/LSB (1-2) lost at home to first ranked Praia (5-1) 88-73 on Saturday. The winners were led by Joao Mamedes (201-1998) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 19 points and 11 rebounds (perfect from the field making all six shots) and point guard Patrick Vieira (186-1993) supported him with 17 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. Four Praia players scored in double figures. Even 12 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists by forward Caio Veríssimo (198-2001) did not help to save the game for Mesquita/LSB. Power forward Douglas Correa (204-1991) added 13 points for lost side. Mesquita/LSB's coach Marcelo Berro tested eleven players and allowed the starting five to rest. Praia have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 5-1 record. Loser Mesquita/LSB dropped to the sixth place with two games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
