We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams in Santiago where 10th ranked Tinguiririca (3-8) was crushed by eleventh ranked Universidad Catolica (3-5) 106-71 on Sunday. Universidad Catolica made 18-of-22 free shots (81.8 percent) during the game. Universidad Catolica outrebounded Tinguiririca 40-27 including a 33-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Tinguiririca's players. Argentinian power forward Cristian Amicucci (200-1985) had a double-double by scoring 17 points, 12 rebounds and 8 assists to lead the charge for the winners and forward Vicente Damianovic (-1997) chipped in 18 points during the contest. Five Universidad Catolica players scored in double figures. DR Congolese-Canadian forward Eric Kibi (198-1990, college: ACU) responded with 23 points and 8 rebounds and guard Matias Sepulveda (-1995) scored 25 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Universidad Catolica moved-up to tenth place. Tinguiririca lost fourth consecutive game. Newly promoted team dropped to the eleventh position with eight games lost. Universidad Catolica will meet league's second-placed Los Leones in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Tinguiririca will play against Puente Alto (#3) and hope to secure a win.
