Regular Season Round 28: Defensor - Capitol 87-77
Date: March 14, 2022
No shocking result in a game when eleventh ranked Defensor (9-14) beat bottom-ranked Capitol (2-21) in Montevideo 87-77 on Monday. Defensor looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The winners were led by the former international center Hatila Passos (211-1985, college: NM State) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 23 points and 12 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) and American guard Rodney Green (197-1988, college: La Salle) supported him with 20 points and 4 assists. Defensor's coach Alvaro Tito used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Even 21 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists by Argentinian Eduardo Gamboa (189-1984) did not help to save the game for Capitol. American-Dominican forward Fausto Pichardo (203-1995, college: Alabama St.) added 18 points and 10 rebounds for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Defensor moved-up to tenth place. Capitol lost tenth consecutive game. They stay dead last with 21 lost games. Defensor's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Montevideo Urunday.
