Regular Season Round 15: Las Animas - Castro 73-88

There was a small surprise when ninth ranked Castro (4-5) beat 7th ranked Las Animas (7-6) in Valdivia 88-73 on Wednesday. Castro shot the lights out from three sinking 14 long-distance shots on high 51.9 percentage. It was an exceptional evening for Argentinian-American guard Romeao Ferguson (196-1997, college: Lipscomb) who led the winners and scored 21 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. Daniel Arcos (190-1994) accounted for 22 points (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) for the winning side. Castro's coach Carlos Romano used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American center Travion Leonard (205-1993, college: Barry, agency: Interperformances) came up with 24 points and 5 rebounds (on 11-of-13 shooting from the field) and Argentinian forward Gabriel Hermosillas (202-1993) added 13 points respectively for Las Animas in the defeat. Castro maintains ninth place with 4-5 record. Loser Las Animas dropped to the sixth position with six games lost. Castro will meet league's leader Puerto Varas on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Las Animas will play against Ancud (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
