Everything went according to plan when fourth ranked Universidad de Concepcion (8-1) defeated at home bottom-ranked Espanol de Talca (2-11) 98-84 on Wednesday. It was an exceptional evening for the former international Lino Saez (207-2000) who led the winners and scored 17 points and 9 rebounds. Naturalized Panamanian guard Eugenio Luzcando (187-1995, college: Idaho St.) accounted for 18 points and 7 rebounds for the winning side. Four Universidad de Concepcion players scored in double figures. American forward TJ Robinson (203-1989, college: LBSU) came up with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds and David Gonzalez (180-1986) added 20 points respectively for Espanol de Talca in the defeat. Espanol de Talca's coach tested ten players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Universidad de Concepcion have a solid series of three victories in a row. Defending champion maintains fourth place with 8-1 record. Espanol de Talca lost seventh consecutive game. They dropped to the bottom position with 11 games lost. Universidad de Concepcion will meet at home Puerto Montt (#5) in the next round. Espanol de Talca will play against Deportivo Valdivia (#8) and hope to secure a win.
