There was no surprise when 13th ranked Temuco (2-10) lost at home to tenth ranked Universidad Catolica (4-6) 93-81 on Wednesday. Universidad Catolica shot 61.0 percent from the field. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. It was an exceptional evening for Argentinian power forward Cristian Amicucci (200-1985) who led the winners and scored 29 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line). Argentinian forward Lucas Diaz (198-1992) accounted for 22 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists for the winning side. Four Universidad Catolica players scored in double figures. American forward Ron Lawton (196-1995, college: NMHU) came up with 19 points and 5 rebounds and guard Ronald Cruces (177-1987) added 14 points and 6 assists respectively for Temuco in the defeat. Universidad Catolica have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain tenth place with 4-6 record. Loser Temuco dropped to the twelfth position with ten games lost. Universidad Catolica will meet higher ranked Puente Alto (#3) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Temuco will have a break next round.
