Regular Season Round 15: Puerto Varas - Ancud 83-80

Seventh-ranked Ancud (6-6) was very close to win a game against first ranked Puerto Varas (10-4). Puerto Varas managed to secure only three-point victory 83-80. However their fans expected much easier game. Puerto Varas outrebounded Ancud 41-28 including 27 on the defensive glass. It was a great evening for the former international guard Franco Morales (179-1992) who led his team to a victory scoring 29 points, 9 rebounds and 8 assists. The former international center Juan Fontena (196-1987) helped adding 13 points and 8 rebounds. The best for the losing side was American Tirrell Brown (198-1993, college: OBU) with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 14 rebounds and international Sebastian Suarez (193-1991, college: Portland St.) scored 24 points and 5 rebounds. Ancud's coach Emiliano Cuchetti rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Puerto Varas maintains first place with 10-4 record. Ancud at the other side keeps the seventh position with six games lost. Puerto Varas will play against Castro (#9) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Ancud will play against Las Animas in Valdivia and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
