Very important is a road loss of third ranked Barreteras (0-8) against fourth ranked Escaramuzas (5-1) on Sunday night. Visiting Barreteras unexpectedly were defeated by in Jalisco 57-61. The best player for the winners was American forward Jemia Carpenter (180-1994, college: UT Southern) who had a double-double by scoring 15 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists. Jhoana Moran (157-1993) chipped in 15 points. Carpenter is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. American guard Megan Garcia (173, agency: Gamble Sports Management) produced a double-double by scoring 14 points and 12 rebounds and Monica Moguel added 11 points and 11 rebounds respectively for the guests. Barreteras' coach Alejandro Rivera tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Escaramuzas have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain fourth position with 5-1 record. Barreteras at the other side still closes the standings with eight games lost. Escaramuzas will meet Quetzales (#10) in the next round where they are favorite. Barreteras will have a break next round.
