Regular Season Round 34: Obera - Boca 89-87

There was a minor upset when 7th ranked Boca (18-14) was edged on the road by ninth ranked Obera (18-15) 89-87 on Saturday. It was a great shooting night for Obera especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.4 percentage. American guard Melvin Johnson (193-1993, college: VCU) notched 23 points to lead the effort and the other American import forward Samuel Givens (197-1989, college: Drexel) supported him with 17 points and 8 rebounds. Even a double-double of 15 points and 13 rebounds by Dominican center Eloy Vargas (211-1988, college: Kentucky, agency: BIG) did not help to save the game for Boca. The former international swingman Adrian Boccia (195-1982) added 18 points and 7 rebounds for lost side. Four Obera and five Boca players scored in double figures. Obera moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Regatas. Loser Boca keeps the seventh position with 14 games lost. Obera will meet Regatas (#8) in the next round. Boca will play against San Lorenzo in Almagro and hope to secure a win.
