Regular Season Round 34: Obras - Gimnasia 76-78
Date: March 26, 2022
Eleventh-ranked Obras (14-18) used its home court advantage to challenge second ranked Gimnasia (24-9) in Buenos Aires. The visitors from Comodoro Rivadavia managed to secure only two-point victory 78-76. However their fans expected much easier game. Obras was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. The former international center Roberto Acuna (208-1990) had a double-double by scoring 21 points and 10 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and the former international Sebastian Vega (200-1988) chipped in 12 points during the contest. Five Gimnasia players scored in double figures. At the losing side American forward Keith Stone (203-1997, college: Miami, FL, agency: Duran International) responded with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 11 rebounds and the former international point guard Pedro Barral (187-1994, agency: Duran International) scored 15 points. Obras' coach Bernardo Murphy rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Gimnasia maintains second position with 24-9 record having just two point less than leader Quimsa. Obras at the other side keeps the eleventh place with 18 games lost. They share the position with Riachuelo LR. Gimnasia will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Obras will play on the road against Comunicaciones (#16) in Mercedes and hopes to get back on the winning track.
