Regular Season Round 34: Cerrado - Sesi Franca 88-89

Fourteenth-ranked Cerrado (9-19) made lots of trouble for first ranked Vivo/Franca (26-3) in Brasilia. The visitors from Sao Paulo managed to secure only one-point victory 89-88. However their fans expected much easier game. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international power forward Lucas Mariano (208-1993) who helped to win the game recording 22 points and 9 rebounds. International center Lucas Silva (208-1995) contributed with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. Five Vivo/Franca players scored in double figures. American point guard Kenny Dawkins (172-1987, college: Lamar) replied with 34 points (!!!), 5 rebounds and 5 assists (made all of his seven free throws) and center Sergio Conceicao (208-2000) added 8 points and 11 rebounds in the effort for Cerrado. Vivo/Franca maintains first position with 26-3 record. Cerrado lost third consecutive game. They keep the fourteenth place with 19 games lost. Vivo/Franca will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Cerrado will play at home against Paulistano (#7) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
