There was a small surprise in Paraiba where sixth ranked UNIFACISA (17-9) beat 3rd ranked Flamengo (22-5) 74-60 on Sunday. UNIFACISA dominated down low during the game scoring 42 of its points in the paint compared to Flamengo's 16. They outrebounded Flamengo 46-27 including a 35-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. The former international power forward Gerson Santo (206-1991, college: Colorado St.) had a double-double by scoring 15 points and 13 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and American-Panamanian point guard Trevor Gaskins (188-1989, college: Louisiana Tech, agency: Pro Sports) chipped in 21 points and 5 assists during the contest. At the losing side Argentinian point guard Franco Balbi (188-1989) responded with 8 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and American Brandon Robinson (196-1989, college: Clayton St.) scored 11 points. UNIFACISA have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain sixth position with 17-9 record. Defending champion Flamengo keeps the third place with five games lost. UNIFACISA will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Flamengo will play against Sao Paulo and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
