Everything went according to plan when fifth ranked Instituto (25-10) defeated 11th ranked Penarol (14-18) in Mar del Plata 89-80 on Sunday. Instituto dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Penarol's 32. Juan Tulian (196-2000) notched a double-double by scoring 22 points and 12 rebounds to lead the effort and point guard Juan Frontera (178-2002) supported him with 15 points and 7 assists. Even a double-double of 15 points, 10 rebounds and 9 assists by guard Thiago Dasso (185-2000) did not help to save the game for Penarol. Guard Facundo Tolosa (190-2002) added 20 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists for lost side. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Penarol's coach tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Instituto moved-up to fourth place. Loser Penarol keeps the eleventh position with 18 games lost. They share it with Olimpico. Instituto will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Penarol will play against H.Americano (#20) in Rio Gallegos and hope to secure a win.
