There was no surprise when 9th ranked Castro (7-6) was defeated at home by sixth ranked Deportivo Valdivia (8-6) 71-63 on Wednesday. American forward Cameron Naylor (202-1994, college: Texas St.) fired 32 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Santiago Soulodre (195-1998) chipped in 8 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. Naylor is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top summer league for players who want to play basketball overseas. American power forward DeMarco Owens (203-1996, college: Montevallo) produced a double-double by scoring 23 points and 11 rebounds and Argentinian-American guard Romeao Ferguson (196-1997, college: Lipscomb) added 16 points and 6 rebounds respectively for lost side. Castro's coach Carlos Romano rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Deportivo Valdivia maintains sixth place with 8-6 record. Loser Castro dropped to the eighth position with six games lost. Deportivo Valdivia will meet bottom-ranked Temuco (#13) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Castro will have a break next round.
