Regular Season Round 19: Temuco - Puerto Montt 75-80

Not a big story in a game when 13th ranked Temuco (2-13) was defeated at home by eighth ranked Puerto Montt (8-8) 80-75 on Friday. Puerto Montt forced 24 Temuco turnovers. Strangely Temuco outrebounded Puerto Montt 35-22 including a 27-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The former international center Jorge Valencia (206-1977) fired a double-double by scoring 22 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Forward Matias Sepulveda (188-1990) chipped in 16 points and 7 rebounds. Guyanese-American center Anthony Moe (206-1990, college: Millersville) produced 15 points and 8 rebounds and American forward Ron Lawton (196-1995, college: NMHU) added 14 points and 8 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Puerto Montt moved-up to seventh place. Temuco lost fourth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with 13 games lost. Puerto Montt will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Temuco will play against Deportivo Valdivia (#6) and hope to secure a win.
