There was a surprise result in Mercedes where seventeenth ranked Comunicaciones (13-21) defeated higher ranked Obras (14-20) 68-64 on Saturday. The best player for the winners was point guard Luciano Guerra (184-1997) who scored 19 points and 7 rebounds. Serbian power forward Milos Macura (211-1990, college: Trevecca) chipped in a double-double by scoring 10 points and 11 rebounds. Four Comunicaciones players scored in double figures. American forward Keith Stone (203-1997, college: Miami, FL, agency: Duran International) produced a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds and the former international point guard Pedro Barral (187-1994, agency: Duran International) added 15 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the guests. Obras' coach Bernardo Murphy tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Comunicaciones moved-up to fifteenth place. Obras lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the fourteenth position with 20 games lost. Comunicaciones will meet at home higher ranked Obera (#9) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Obras will play against San Lorenzo (#12) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
