Regular Season Round 19: Talca - Puente Alto 86-85

Very important is a road loss of third ranked Puente Alto (11-5) against twelfth ranked Espanol de Talca (4-13) on Saturday night. Visiting Puente Alto was edged by Espanol de Talca in a tough game in Talca 85-86. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Puente Alto. Strangely Puente Alto outrebounded Espanol de Talca 52-36 including 16 on the offensive glass. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. It was an exceptional evening for American forward TJ Robinson (203-1989, college: LBSU) who led the winners and scored 25 points and 9 rebounds. The former international Mohunir Zerene (187-1994) accounted for 19 points and 5 assists for the winning side. Espanol de Talca's coach Nicolas Altalef allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Argentinian forward Martin Chervo (200-1992) came up with a double-double by scoring 31 points and 18 rebounds and the former international guard Erik Carrasco (181-1983) added 4 points, 11 rebounds and 11 assists respectively for Puente Alto in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Espanol de Talca maintains twelfth place with 4-13 record. Puente Alto at the other side keeps the third position with five games lost. Espanol de Talca will play against higher ranked Los Leones (#4) in Quilpue in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Puente Alto will play on the road against the league's leader Universidad de Concepcion having rather not much hope for a victory.
