Regular Season Round 21: Castro - Puerto Montt 67-60

The game between closely ranked teams ended with eighth ranked Castro's (10-6) home victory over 9th ranked Puerto Montt (9-9) 67-60 on Tuesday. Strangely Puerto Montt outrebounded Castro 44-30 including a 18-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. American power forward DeMarco Owens (203-1996, college: Montevallo) nailed 17 points and 7 rebounds for the winning side and Argentinian-American guard Romeao Ferguson (196-1997, college: Lipscomb) accounted for 15 points and 4 assists. Owens is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Castro players scored in double figures. Castro's coach Carlos Romano used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American center Roquez Johnson (201-1992, college: MSU, agency: BIG) came up with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 13 rebounds and the former international point guard Tomas Alvarez (185-1989) added 14 points respectively for Puerto Montt in the defeat. Castro have a solid series of four victories in a row. They moved-up to sixth place. Puerto Montt at the other side keeps the ninth position with nine games lost. Castro will meet Deportivo Valdivia (#8) on the road in the next round. Puerto Montt will play against the league's leader Universidad de Concepcion and hope to secure a win.
