Regular Season Round 68: Jachal - Salta Basket 94-112

Very expected game when 15th ranked Jachal (3-24) was defeated at home by sixth ranked Salta Basket (17-10) 112-94 on Wednesday. Salta Basket outrebounded Jachal 50-33 including a 42-24 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. The best player for the winners was swingman Cristian Cardo (198-1999) who scored 34 points (!!!), 7 rebounds and 4 assists (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field). Point guard Gonzalo Alonso (178-2002) chipped in a double-double by scoring 16 points, 8 rebounds and 11 assists. Five Salta Basket players scored in double figures. Ismael Sarruff produced 31 points and 4 assists and Cuban power forward Marlon Diaz (200-1998) added 16 points and 10 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Salta Basket moved-up to third place, which they share with Racing. Jachal lost ninth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the fifteenth position with 24 games lost. Salta Basket will meet Rivadavia (#9) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Jachal will play against Colon SF (#13) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
