Regular Season Round 8: Praia - Mesquita/LSB 97-77

There was no surprise when 7th ranked Mesquita/LSB (1-3) was outplayed on the road by second ranked Praia (8-4) 97-77 on Friday. Praia outrebounded Mesquita/LSB 49-36 including a 34-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 32 assists comparing to just 16 passes made by Mesquita/LSB's players. The best player for the winners was point guard Patrick Vieira (186-1993) who had a triple-double by scoring 14 points, 12 rebounds and 13 assists. Joao Mamedes (201-1998) chipped in 16 points and 7 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). Four Praia players scored in double figures. Guard Fabricio Verissimo (192-1998) produced 17 points and 9 rebounds and point guard Diego Gomes (183-1991) added 7 points and 4 assists respectively for the guests. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Praia maintains second position with 8-4 record behind leader Blumenau, which they share with Basquete Santos. Loser Mesquita/LSB keeps the seventh place with three games lost.
