Important game to mention about took place in Castro. Eighth ranked Castro (10-6) saved a 3-point victory at home edging leader Universidad de Concepcion (15-4) 87-84 on Sunday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the guest team. American power forward DeMarco Owens (203-1996, college: Montevallo) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 27 points and 11 rebounds for the winners and Argentinian-American guard Romeao Ferguson (196-1997, college: Lipscomb) chipped in 20 points, 11 rebounds and 7 assists. Owens is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. The best for the losing side was American forward Jerry Evans (203-1990, college: Nevada) with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 11 rebounds and the other American import center Arnold Louis (201-1990, college: SSU) produced a double-double by scoring 20 points and 13 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Castro have a solid series of four victories in a row. They moved-up to sixth place. Defending champion Universidad de Concepcion still keeps top position with four games lost. Castro will play against Deportivo Valdivia (#8) on the road in the next round. Universidad de Concepcion will play against Espanol de Talca (#12) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
