The game between closely ranked teams ended with fifth ranked Tijuana Zonkeys' (4-5) home victory over 6th ranked Venados (4-4) 94-89 on Tuesday. Tijuana Zonkeys dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Venados' 30 and made 21-of-23 free shots (91.3 percent) during the game. Cuban center Marvin Cairo (203-1991) fired 29 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. American Tonzell Handy (196, college: Tougaloo) chipped in 20 points and 9 rebounds. American center Alex Hicks (203-1996, college: Troy) produced 20 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and his fellow American import Jermont Horton (198-1984, college: RU Newark) added 19 points respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Venados' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Despite that victory Tijuana Zonkeys went down to sixth position due to points difference. Loser Venados dropped to the fourth place with four games lost. They share the position with Obregon. Tijuana Zonkeys will meet league's second-placed Pioneros Los Mochis on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Venados will play against Caballeros de Culiacan and hope to secure a win.
