Regular Season Round 5: Hermosillo - Astros 71-61

The biggest surprise took place in Hermosillo where host Rayos de Hermosillo (6-4) beat league's leader Astros (8-3) 71-61 on Wednesday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Astros. The best player for the winners was American guard Jimond Ivey (196-1996, college: Akron) who had a double-double by scoring 18 points and 13 rebounds. Turkish center Alihan Demir (206-1996, college: Minnesota) chipped in 19 points and 8 rebounds. American forward Jordan Loveridge (198-1993, college: Utah) produced 15 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and international forward Jonatan Machado (200-1993) added 13 points and 10 rebounds respectively for the guests. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Defending champion moved-up to third place, which they share with Obregon. Astros at the other side dropped to the second position with three games lost. They were replaced at the leadership position by Los Mochis. Astros will play next round against Ostioneros de Guaymas trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Rayos de Hermosillo will try to continue on its current victory against fifth ranked Venados in Mazatlan.
