Regular Season Round 24: Puerto Varas - Talca 96-92
Date: April 23, 2022
No shocking result in a game when third ranked Puerto Varas (16-6) beat at home 12th ranked Espanol de Talca (4-18) 96-92. However just four-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Puerto Varas players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of Panamanian forward Pablo Rivas (198-1994, college: NCCU) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 27 points and 14 rebounds and guard Patricio Arroyo (185-1996) who added 15 points and 6 assists during the contest. Rivas is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. The best for the losing side was American forward TJ Robinson (203-1989, college: LBSU) with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 14 rebounds and center Claudio Cabrera (200-1988) scored 17 points and 5 rebounds. Five Espanol de Talca players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Puerto Varas moved-up to second place. Espanol de Talca lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the twelfth position with 18 games lost. Puerto Varas will play against league's leader Universidad de Concepcion at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Espanol de Talca will play against Las Animas (#7) in Valdivia and hopes to get back on the winning track.
