An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Los Mochis. Third ranked Rayos de Hermosillo faced second-ranked Pioneros Los Mochis. Guests from Hermosillo (10-6) defeated host Pioneros Los Mochis (10-6) 99-94. Rayos de Hermosillo made 16-of-20 charity shots (80.0 percent) during the game. It was a great shooting night for Rayos de Hermosillo especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 61.1 percentage. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. American guard Jimond Ivey (196-1996, college: Akron) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 28 points and 11 rebounds. The other American import guard Jordan Brangers (188-1995, college: South Plains) contributed with 18 points and 4 assists for the winners. Swiss point guard Jordan Stevens (182-1994, college: Midwestern St.) replied with 38 points (!!!) and 5 rebounds and American swingman Wayne Runnels (198-1989, college: Creighton) added 13 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Pioneros Los Mochis. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Pioneros Los Mochis' coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Defending champion moved-up to second place, which they share with Los Mochis. Rayos de Hermosillo will play against bottom-ranked Caballeros de Culiacan (#8) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Pioneros Los Mochis will play against Halcones de Ciudad Obregon (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
