CIBACOPA top team - Astros (13-5) added another victory to their record on Tuesday. This time they beat fifth ranked Tijuana Zonkeys (8-10) in Guadalajara 85-79. Naturalized American guard Karim Rodriguez (196-1988) nailed 18 points and 7 assists for the winning side and American center Matt Stainbrook (208-1992, college: Xavier) accounted for 16 points and 10 rebounds. Four Astros players scored in double figures. Cuban center Marvin Cairo (203-1991) came up with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 12 rebounds and American guard Josh Webster (190-1997, college: Missouri St.) added 22 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for Tijuana Zonkeys in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Astros have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They maintain first place with 13-5 record. Tijuana Zonkeys lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the sixth position with ten games lost. Astros will meet at home Halcones de Ciudad Obregon (#4) in the next round. Tijuana Zonkeys will play against Ostioneros de Guaymas and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
