Regular Season Round 7: Carrib.Storm - Team Cali 91-97

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 4th placed Storm (3-4) lost to fifth ranked Team Cali (3-4) in San Andres Island 91-97. Team Cali had a 23-11 advantage in offensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists. Team Cali brought some defensive toughness making 8 blocks. It was a great evening for American guard John Merchant (187-1989, college: Dowling) who led his team to a victory scoring 28 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Guard Hayner Montano (190-1997) helped adding 18 points and 6 rebounds. Team Cali's coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. At the losing side Venezuelan swingman Kevin Nino (195-1991) responded with 26 points and Spanish-Dominican center Jhonatan Araujo (208-1996) produced a double-double by scoring 10 points and 12 rebounds. Four Team Cali and five Storm players scored in double figures. Team Cali moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Carrib.Storm.
