Very significant was Ostioneros de Guaymas' (#5) 17-point road victory against 6th ranked Tijuana Zonkeys 102-85. Ostioneros de Guaymas shot 60.3 percent from the field. They shot the lights out from three nailing 17 long-distance shots on high 54.8 percentage. Ostioneros de Guaymas players were unselfish on offense dishing 30 assists comparing to just 16 passes made by Tijuana Zonkeys' players. Nigerian-American center Jawachi Nzeakor (206-1997, college: Lamar) notched a double-double by scoring 17 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!) to lead the effort and American Jalen Tate (198-1998, college: Arkansas) supported him with 23 points and 5 assists (perfect from the field making all nine shots !!!). Even 26 points and 4 assists by American guard Josh Webster (190-1997, college: Missouri St.) did not help to save the game for Tijuana Zonkeys. The former international Fabian Jaimes (198-1992) added 19 points and 13 rebounds for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Ostioneros de Guaymas (10-10) have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain fifth position. Tijuana Zonkeys lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the sixth place with 11 games lost. Ostioneros de Guaymas will play against league's second-placed Rayos de Hermosillo on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Tijuana Zonkeys will play against Halcones de Ciudad Obregon (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
