Regular Season Round 2: Yale - Lagomar 77-54

There was a minor upset in Montevideo where Lagomar was rolled over by Yale 77-54 on Saturday. Yale held Lagomar to an opponent 25.0 percent shooting from the field compared to 41.2 percent accuracy of the winners. Yale forced 28 Lagomar turnovers. Strangely Lagomar outrebounded Yale 49-29 including a 23-8 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Lagomar's players. The best player for the winners was Argentinian guard Laila Raviolo (180-2000) who scored 20 points and 5 rebounds. Guard Sofia Podesta (161-2003) chipped in 5 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists. Argentinian forward Luciana Buriani (170-2000) produced 9 points and 20 rebounds and center Selena Medrick (177-1992) added 10 points and 14 rebounds respectively for the guests. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Yale will meet Remeros in the next round where they are favorite. Lagomar will play against Juventud and hope to win that game.
