Very expected game when 11th ranked Las Plebes (5-11) were smashed by fifth ranked Escaramuzas (12-4) in Jalisco 78-59 on Sunday. Escaramuzas outrebounded Las Plebes 48-36 including 37 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The winners were led by Jhoana Moran (157-1993) who scored that evening 20 points and 6 assists and Argentinian center Johanna Puchetti (191-1987) supported her with 16 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Escaramuzas players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 11 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists by American swingman Jessica Fairweather (178-1989, college: Queens, NY) did not help to save the game for Las Plebes. The former international forward Sofia Moreno (185-1988) added 13 points and 11 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) for the guests. Escaramuzas have an impressive six-game winning streak. They moved-up to fourth place. Loser Las Plebes dropped to the tenth position with 11 games lost. They share it with Algodoneras. Escaramuzas will meet Barreteras (#9) in the next round where they are favorite. Las Plebes will play against Quetzales in Ciudad de Mexico and hope to secure a win.
