Regular Season Round 11: Obregon - Tijuana 76-87

There was a small surprise when sixth ranked Tijuana Zonkeys (10-12) defeated on the road 4th placed Halcones de Ciudad Obregon (12-10) 87-76 on Tuesday. It was a great evening for Cuban center Marvin Cairo (203-1991) who led his team to a victory scoring 23 points and 9 rebounds. The former international Fabian Jaimes (198-1992) helped adding 17 points and 11 rebounds. Five Tijuana Zonkeys players scored in double figures. Tijuana Zonkeys' coach used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American forward Tony Farmer (201-1994, college: Lee JC) responded with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 13 rebounds (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field) and the other American import forward Germain Jordan (198-1986, college: Dillard) scored 19 points and 5 rebounds. Tijuana Zonkeys maintains sixth place with 10-12 record. Loser Halcones de Ciudad Obregon keeps the fourth position with ten games lost. Tijuana Zonkeys will meet at home higher ranked Rayos de Hermosillo (#3) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Halcones de Ciudad Obregon will play against Caballeros de Culiacan and hope to secure a win.
