Very important is a road loss of third ranked Rayos de Hermosillo (15-9) against fifth ranked Tijuana Zonkeys (11-13) on Tuesday night. Visiting Rayos de Hermosillo was defeated by Tijuana Zonkeys in a tough game in Tijuana 71-78. Tijuana Zonkeys made 17-of-21 charity shots (81.0 percent) during the game. Worth to mention a great performance of Cuban center Marvin Cairo (203-1991) who helped to win the game recording 24 points and 8 rebounds and American guard Josh Webster (190-1997, college: Missouri St.) who added 9 points, 7 rebounds and 9 assists during the contest. Four Tijuana Zonkeys players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American guard Jimond Ivey (196-1996, college: Akron) with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 16 rebounds and his fellow American import Jeremy Hollowell (203-1994, college: Georgia St., agency: Network Sports International) scored 24 points and 6 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Tijuana Zonkeys maintains fifth position with 11-13 record, which they share with Guaymas. Defending champion Rayos de Hermosillo dropped to the second place with nine games lost. They share the position with Los Mochis. Tijuana Zonkeys will play against Venados (#7) in Mazatlan in the next round. Rayos de Hermosillo will play at home against Halcones de Ciudad Obregon (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
