The game between closely ranked teams ended with 4th placed Halcones de Ciudad Obregon's (14-13) road loss to third ranked Rayos de Hermosillo (17-10) 65-80 on Friday. Rayos de Hermosillo looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. American Jeremy Hollowell (203-1994, college: Georgia St., agency: Network Sports International) fired 19 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Turkish center Alihan Demir (206-1996, college: Minnesota) chipped in 15 points and 9 rebounds. Five Rayos de Hermosillo players scored in double figures. American Jimmy Hall (203-1994, college: Kent St., agency: Slash Sports) produced a double-double by scoring 14 points and 12 rebounds and the other American import center Deion McClenton (208, college: Keiser) added 17 points and 6 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Defending champion moved-up to second place, which they share with Los Mochis. Loser Halcones de Ciudad Obregon keeps the fourth position with 13 games lost. They share it with Tijuana. Rayos de Hermosillo will meet at home Venados (#7) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Halcones de Ciudad Obregon will play against Ostioneros de Guaymas and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
