Regular Season Round 7: Astros - Abejas 90-57

The game between closely ranked teams ended with third ranked Astros' (4-2) home victory over 4th placed Abejas (0-9) 90-57 on Saturday. Astros forced 20 Abejas turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Abejas' players. It was a great evening for American forward Nadia Fingall (191-1998, college: Stanford) who led her team to a victory scoring 20 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. The former international guard Claudia Ramos (183-1997, college: CSUN) helped adding 24 points. At the losing side American guard Jaterra Bonds (170-1992, college: Florida) responded with 21 points and the other American import guard Isabelle Spingola (183-1998, college: Marquette) scored 14 points and 6 rebounds. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Astros maintains third place with 4-2 record having five points less than leader Adelitas. Abejas lost their ninth game in a row. They still close the standings with nine games lost. Astros will again meet at home Abejas (#4) in the next round. Abejas will have a break next round.
