Regular Season Round 23: Racers - Teporacas 46-79

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Saltillo. Third ranked Teporacas faced leader Racers. Guests from (15-6) smashed host Racers (2-17) 79-46. Teporacas dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Racers' 26. Teporacas forced 24 Racers turnovers and outrebounded them 43-29 including a 18-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Racers' players. The former international swingman Daniela Soto (177-1995) orchestrated the victory by scoring 20 points. Swingman Viviana Vasquez (178-1996, college: Toronto) contributed with 13 points and 5 assists for the winners. Teporacas' coach Angel Gonzalez felt very confident using entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Ecuadorian point guard Leyda Macias (165-1983) answered with 15 points and Blanca Morales added 4 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Racers. Teporacas have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. They maintain third place with 15-6 record having six points less than leader Phoenix. Racers lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team still keep top position with 17 games lost. Teporacas will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Racers will play again against Teporacas and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
