Regular Season Round 3: Truenos - Univ.Concepcion 29-110

Rather expected game when Truenos (1-2) were smashed by Univ.Concepcion (3-0) in Talca 110-29 on Saturday. Univ.Concepcion held Truenos to an opponent 22.6 percent shooting from the field compared to 46.9 percent accuracy of the winners and had 22 for 30 from the free-throw line, while Truenos only scored three points from the stripe. Univ.Concepcion forced 47 Truenos turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists comparing to just 7 passes made by Truenos' players. It was an exceptional evening for Josefina Viafora (-1999) who led the winners with a triple-double by scoring 30 points, 17 rebounds, 10 assists and 4 blocks. Yenicel Torres (171-1999) accounted for 23 points and 6 steals for the winning side. Five Univ.Concepcion players scored in double figures. Forward Estefania Munoz (-1996) came up with 2 points and 11 rebounds and center Fernanda Quezada (-1998) added 3 points and 6 rebounds respectively for Truenos in the defeat. Truenos' coach gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Univ.Concepcion's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Concepcion Infinito.
