Regular Season Round 23: Las Plebes - Mieleras 70-79

Undefeated leader Mieleras delivered the twenty first consecutive victory on Saturday night. This time they beat 11th ranked Las Plebes (5-14) 79-70. They outrebounded Las Plebes 38-25 including 26 on the defensive glass. It was a great evening for Nigerian forward Ijeoma Uchendu (185-1992, college: Butler) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds. American forward Destiny Campbell (185, college: ECU) helped adding 20 points and 7 rebounds. American forward Danielle Forrest-Higgins (178, college: Morgan St.) responded with 26 points (was perfect 16-for-16 from the free throw line !!!) and the other American import swingman Jessica Fairweather (178-1989, college: Queens, NY) produced a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. The victory was the twenty first consecutive win for Mieleras. They maintain first place with 21-0 record. Las Plebes lost their fifth game in a row. They dropped to the tenth position with 14 games lost. They share it with Algodoneras. Mieleras will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Las Plebes will play again against the league's leader Mieleras (#1) and hope to secure a win.
