Regular Season Round 7: Fuerza Regia - Halcones 85-79

The game between closely ranked teams ended with 3rd placed Halcones' (2-7) road loss to second ranked Fuerza Regia (7-2) 79-85 on Saturday. The game was also dominated by American players. It was a great evening for guard Alexis Jones (175-1994, college: Baylor) who led her team to a victory scoring 22 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists. Center Khaalia Hillsman (197-1996, college: Texas A&M) helped adding 24 points and 8 rebounds (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field). Fuerza Regia's coach Juan Jose Pidal used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side center Elissa Cunane (196-2000, college: NC State) responded with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds and forward Kym Royster (188-1997, college: Indiana, agency: Green Sports Management) scored 17 points and 6 rebounds. Four Fuerza Regia and five Halcones players scored in double figures. The victory was the seventh consecutive win for Fuerza Regia. They maintain second place with 7-2 record having just one point less than leader Adelitas. Loser Halcones keep the third position with seven games lost. Fuerza Regia will again meet at home Halcones (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Halcones will have a break next round.
