Very important is a road loss of second ranked Pioneros Los Mochis (19-11) against fifth ranked Tijuana Zonkeys (16-14) on Sunday night. Visiting Pioneros Los Mochis were defeated by Tijuana Zonkeys in a tough game in Tijuana 85-94. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Pioneros Los Mochis. It was a great evening for American guard Josh Webster (190-1997, college: Missouri St.) who led his team to a victory scoring 30 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. His fellow American import guard Jon Davis (190-1996, college: Charlotte) helped adding 13 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists. The best for the losing side was Swiss point guard Jordan Stevens (182-1994, college: Midwestern St.) with 24 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) and American Anthony Johnson (203-1988, college: Fairfield) scored 16 points and 6 rebounds. Five Tijuana Zonkeys and four Pioneros Los Mochis players scored in double figures. Pioneros Los Mochis' coach rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Tijuana Zonkeys moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Obregon. Pioneros Los Mochis at the other side keep the second position with 11 games lost. Tijuana Zonkeys will play against higher ranked Rayos de Hermosillo (#3) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Pioneros Los Mochis will play against Ostioneros de Guaymas and hope to get back on the winning track.
